When is the Best Time to Water Your Lawn?

Did you know that it matters when you water your lawn? Well, it does. Watering your lawn at the wrong time can actually been harmful to your grass. If you water at night, the moisture will sit on your grass for hours upon hours, which could lead to fungi or mold growth on your lawn. If you water your lawn during the day, most of the water will simply evaporate away, meaning your grass will not getting the water it needs.

So when is the best time to water your lawn?
Between 3:00 and 4:00am.

Two main benefits to watering in the morning:

1. The water will have a chance to sufficiently soak into the topsoil.

2. Whatever water is left over will be evaporated when the sun comes up, thereby not giving the water a chance to create any fungi or molds which come about when water just sits around on the surface of your lawn.

If you do not have a sprinkler and you cannot wake up at 3:00am to water your lawn, watering in the morning, before the sun comes up, is the next best thing. While it is not ideal, it is still better than watering during the day when the sun will evaporate away most of the water, leaving your lawn longing for moisture.
